Last Friday, the Brussels-based company Taxi Verts launched their first hydrogen car into service for the Belgian capital. The company launched their test vehicle with the help of Eoly-Energy, a company in the renewable energy sector.

Five industry players, including Korean construction company Samsung Engineering, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to study the potential of supplying at least 900MW of hydro-based renewable power for a green hydrogen/ammonia project in Malaysia.

I'm very happy to be here with you today.

I want to thank our co-organisers for this forum, it's a great follow-on from our solar event yesterday. This is the first edition of the EU-India Green Hydrogen Forum, which I hope will be the first of many and a milestone in the development of a strong cooperation on green hydrogen between EU and India.

Hydrogen (H2) is currently discussed as an ideal energy carrier of renewable energies. Hydrogen has the highest gravimetric energy density of all chemical fuels (141 MJ/kg), which is three times higher than gasoline (46 MJ/kg). However, its low volumetric density restricts its widespread use in transportation applications—as current storage options require a lot of space.
