Green hydrogen is hydrogen that is produced through the electrolysis of water, powered by electricity generated from renewable sources of energy. Most of the world's hydrogen is produced using fossil fuels, especially natural gas.

The Union Cabinet approved the National Green Hydrogen Mission, which is aimed at making India the global hub for the production of green hydrogen.

Andrew Forrest’s Fortescue group is has announced new plans to produce green steel on a commercial scale – and without burning fossil fuels.

• The plant, which will be one of the largest in the world, will produce 300,000 tonnes of green methanol for use as marine fuel.
